AGU-HYBRID
Almen grunduddannelse
Do you dream of being admitted to a vocational program, upper secondary school, or HF, but first need to improve your academic skills in general subjects such as Danish and mathematics?
If you are currently struggling with in-person classes and find it challenging to attend school physically, then AGU Hybrid may be the right pathway for you.
At AGU Hybrid, you receive practice-oriented and holistic teaching – a real-life, meaningful education that connects theory with practice.

At AGU Hybrid, you will take classes in:
-
Danish
-
Mathematics
-
Science
-
English
-
Social Studies
-
Identity and Citizenship
The subjects are offered at different levels. Together with your municipal youth guidance, you will decide which level is right for you in each subject.

Special requirements
You must have a stable internet connection and a good headset with a microphone to participate in AGU Hybrid.
You are expected to keep your camera turned on during online classes.
It is recommended that you have your own computer, but it is not required – you can borrow one from us if needed.
What is AGU-hybrid?

Teaching is holistic and meaningful, with differentiated instruction to meet each student at their individual level – creating space for everyone on the team.
Our teachers meet students with curiosity and strong commitment, and they are present and supportive throughout the lessons to ensure a safe learning environment.
Here are the three AGU Hybrid teachers: Jesper (right, contact teacher), Dianne (center, contact teacher), Kresten (left, Science teacher)
We want your start at AGU Hybrid to be safe and welcoming. That is why you begin with an introductory day together with your contact teacher and possibly other new students. Here, you will get to know each other and be introduced to the digital tools you will need on your computer.
If you need to borrow a PC from the school, it must be collected before your intro day.
-
The intro day is held online every other Tuesday from 08:00 – 11:30.
AGU Hybrid follows a fixed schedule to provide structure and routine. The weekly schedule includes 29 hours, unless you are enrolled on a reduced-time basis.
AGU Hybrid has its own dedicated facilities.
The hybrid classroom includes:
- an adjoining quiet room for individual work
-
a small kitchen with fridge space for packed lunches and an eating area
-
a private restroom for the group, so students can stay within their own area throughout the school day.

- AGU-hybrid concludes with exams in Danish, mathematics, and a third subject that is randomly selected from the remaining subjects. For the subjects in which you are not examined, you will receive a final grade if you have reached the required level.
- All exams are portfolio-based. This means that you select 2–5 assignments, depending on the subject, that you have previously worked on during your classes at FGU. In other words, you will already know the material you are being tested in.
- It is your teacher who decides when you are ready to take an exam. You will be considered ready once you have reached the required academic level and have sufficient material in your portfolio.
As a general rule, all exams in AGU-hybrid take place with physical attendance.
How do I become a student?
AGU Hybrid is a new educational offer for young people aged 16–25 who have not yet completed or are currently enrolled in a youth education program, and who are not in employment. It is designed for young people who currently find it difficult to attend physical classes and struggle to come to school, whether due to psychological or physical challenges.
The goal is for the student to gain knowledge, skills, clarity, and motivation to complete a youth education program or enter unskilled employment. Another goal may be to help the student transition to physical classroom teaching, depending on their individual education plan.
To enroll in AGU Hybrid, the young person must first meet with their youth counselor (UU), who will assess whether the program matches their needs and aspirations. This assessment determines whether the student would benefit from a hybrid learning program, how much of the teaching should be online and how much in person (or fully online), which subjects and levels the student will follow, whether reduced hours are needed, and the expected duration of the program.
Students can attend AGU Hybrid for up to two years.
The education plan can be adjusted during the course in cooperation with the youth counselor.
If the student and the youth counselor are unsure whether AGU Hybrid is the right option, a trial period of up to 10 school days can be arranged. This takes place at AGU Hybrid, giving the student a chance to test whether the program is a good match.
To enroll in AGU-hybrid, you first need to speak with your youth counselor (UU-vejleder). They will assess whether the program matches your needs and goals. Together, you will also decide how much of your teaching should take place on campus, and whether you should begin with fully online classes.
If you are unsure who your youth counselor is, we will be happy to help you get in touch.
The hybrid program admits new students once a week, both for trial participation and direct enrollment.
Important information
-
A stable internet connection and a good headset with a microphone are required. Poor sound quality affects both the student and the entire class.
-
The camera must always be turned on. This allows students to mirror each other’s engagement and helps teachers monitor participation. The camera should not be placed against backlight so the student’s face is clearly visible.
-
Students must log in on time every day and participate actively in lessons.
-
An inclusive community is essential. Everyone must be treated with respect and curiosity, and we have a greeting culture: every morning, students say good morning to each other. Bullying or exclusion is not tolerated.
-
Communication must be in Danish.
- It is possible to borrow a PC from FGU Nordvest, but students are financially responsible if it is damaged and must return it upon leaving the school.
If a student is entitled to an SPS (Special Educational Support) PC, we will help arrange this. We also assist with other support tools if needed.
- A proper home workspace is important. Ideally, students should have a desk and chair in a quiet environment where they can work without interruptions.
- Remember: even when studying at home, you are at school. That means no laundry, TV, or visitors during school hours.
Dyslexia is not a barrier to attending AGU Hybrid. If you do not already have an SPS PC, we will help you apply for one. This requires that you have been formally tested for dyslexia.
As an AGU Hybrid student, you will receive school benefit. The amount depends on your age, whether you live at home or independently, and whether you have children (in which case you may receive a supplement).
School benefit is reduced if you are absent from lessons, whether online or in person – unless it is legitimate absence (e.g., illness). Attendance is recorded every day, and if you do not show up, the school counselor will contact you.
