Student wellbeing is crucial to us and plays a key role in motivating our students to continue into further education or employment. Wellbeing and learning go hand in hand – in order for us as human beings to learn and develop, it is essential that we thrive and feel good.

At FGU Nordvest, we have active student councils that continuously work with initiatives to support wellbeing. This includes community-building activities during lessons, as well as student events, trips, wellbeing weeks, cafés, and more.

We also focus on creating inclusive learning environments. In such an environment, each student feels part of the community and setting in which they participate.

We monitor student wellbeing through an annual wellbeing survey conducted between November 1 and December 31. Student wellbeing is measured across five main areas: background, academic and social wellbeing, social relations, learning environment, and physical surroundings (for EGU students, internships are also included). The questions are developed by the Ministry of Children and Education, and the results are provided by the Danish Agency for IT and Learning.

Based on the results of the survey, the student councils are involved in developing any new initiatives to further strengthen student wellbeing.

Our first wellbeing survey was conducted at the end of 2020, and the results showed that our students experience a high level of wellbeing. We are proud of that!

How we create wellbeing during the school day.

We ensure a positive and supportive school environment by:

  • Being active in class.

  • Participating in activities across different groups/classes.

  • Greeting each other with a “good morning”.

  • Showing respect and care between teachers and students.

  • Teachers taking an active interest in students’ wellbeing.

  • Making sure that workshop training and general subjects are connected and meaningful.

  • Arranging school-wide activities such as Friday cafés, parties, tournaments, and more.

  • Introducing buddy systems to help new students feel welcome and included.

The student council encourages you to:

  • Get enough sleep.

  • Come to school.

  • Show up with a positive attitude.

  • Smile and say good morning.

  • Not feel ashamed of your situation.

  • Participate in lessons and activities.

  • Give the school a chance before deciding to leave.

  • Put your phone away.

  • Talk to others.

The Student Council af FGU Jammerbugt formulated a wllbeing policy during Wellebeing Week (Week 20, 2022). In Wellbing Week 2024, all FGU Nordvest schools will work on wellbeing and contribute to creating a new wellbeing policy.

In the meantime, the wellbeing policy developed by the Student Council af FGU Jammerbugt serves as our current wellbeing policy.
